Operation Dough-Nation

Boston Bread, LLC, a franchisee of Panera Bread announces its new Operation Dough-Nation partner, The Ellie Fund!

Through the Operation Dough-Nation program, 14 area Panera Bread bakery-cafes across Massachusetts will serve as collection sites to raise money for The Ellie Fund's "Care for the Caregiver" program. Throughout the year, Boston Bread will also support various special events and develop additional initiatives to raise money for The Ellie Fund. Any new Panera Bread bakery-cafes opened by Boston Bread in 2006 will raise funds for The Ellie Fund as part of their grand opening festivities.

"We are proud to partner with The Ellie Fund and help raise money to support local families with the difficulties that can arise when a wife or mother undergoes breast cancer treatment," said Mike Hamra, president of Panera Bread franchisee, Boston Bread. "We feel that the Ellie Fund's focus on local families is a perfect fit with Panera's goals to help the people who live in the communities we serve. We are honored to work with such a great organization."

For the past 11 years, Panera Bread has participated in Operation Dough-Nation, Panera's national program that ensures that every purchase at a Panera Bread bakery location will benefit their community. Nationwide, Panera Bread bakery-cafes have helped dozens of non-profit organizations through Operation Dough-Nation.

Thanks to the generosity of its customers, Panera Bread was able to donate more than $1 million to numerous charities last year. Contributions have helped organizations including local food banks and pantries, Meals on Wheels, Make-a-Wish Foundation, American Cancer Society, Massachusetts Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity and many others.
