Ellie Fund’s Red Carpet Gala Raises Critical Funds to Support Breast Cancer Patients

The Ellie Fund’s Signature Event Brings in More Than $300,000 to Benefit Their Mission
Boston, MA – While the stars were gathered in Hollywood for the 91st Annual Academy Awards, 300 of Boston’s best donned their black tie finest at the Fairmont Copley Plaza for the Ellie Fund’s 23rd Annual Red Carpet Gala. The event, hosted in partnership with WCVB Channel 5 and emceed by Maria Stephanos and Ed Harding, featured hosted bars, gourmet chef stations presented by BostonChefs.com, live music from Rhett Price and Almost Owen, Red Carpet arrivals with WCVB’s Emily Riemer and Ben Simmoneau and a live auction with Auctioneer Billy Costa of KISS 108 and NESN. During the program, the Ellie Fund’s Executive Director Meredith Mendelson presented the 7th Annual Rose Award to The Ilene Beal Charitable Foundation in honor of Ellie Rose Popkin and recognition of Ilene Beal’s legacy of generosity and benevolence. The Ilene Beal Charitable Foundation has pledged $375,000 over 3 years as a leading funder of the Metastatic Breast Cancer Support Program. The Ellie Fund is thrilled to announce that this year’s Red Carpet Gala raised more than $300,000 to support their Healing Together Patient and Family Care Program and Metastatic Breast Cancer Support Program. “I am overwhelmed by the incredible generosity displayed by the sponsors, donors and guests of this year’s Gala,” says Mendelson. “Our aim is to provide essential services totaling $1 million to 1,000 breast cancer patients in 2019.
