Health Equity
At Ellie Fund, health equity means ensuring that every person facing breast cancer, regardless of income, background, or life circumstances, has the support they need to stay in treatment and focus on healing. By removing barriers to care such as transportation, food, and childcare, we work to ensure that no one’s care is disrupted by financial or logistical challenges.
Measuring Impact
Through patient surveys, Ellie Fund evaluates the impact of non-medical support services on quality of life, including access to healthy food, financial stress, and other key indicators. Our team has presented related research posters at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium, the nation’s leading medical and academic breast cancer conference.
Coalition Leadership
With 7,000 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed in Massachusetts each year, we know the most meaningful progress is made when like-minded organizations work together. As a leader in the Boston Breast Cancer Equity Coalition, Ellie Fund partners with healthcare, community, and advocacy organizations to address systemic barriers to care and advance more equitable support for individuals facing breast cancer.
Advocacy
By leveraging patient stories, service data, and frontline insights, we educate policymakers and community leaders and advocate for policy changes that promote health equity and remove barriers to care. By pairing direct service with advocacy, we are working toward a future in which essential non-medical support is not the exception, but an expected part of cancer care.
